OUR STORY

Saranyu Racing is a student-run motorsport engineering team from Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, competing in Formula Student India and SAE India competitions.

Founded by passionate engineering students, our team brings together talent from mechanical, electrical, electronics, and business disciplines to design, manufacture, and race a Formula-style car every year.

Every component — from the space-frame chassis to the embedded control systems — is designed, analysed, fabricated, and tested by our students. We don't just build cars; we build engineers.

Our culture is driven by relentless curiosity, collaborative problem-solving, and a hunger to push boundaries that goes far beyond the racetrack.

TEAM HISTORY

2019

Foundation — The Beginning

Saranyu Racing was founded at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, by passionate engineering students with a dream to compete at Formula Student India. The first car project began with minimal resources but boundless enthusiasm.

2020

Resilience Through the Pandemic

Despite the global shutdown, the team used 2020 to advance simulation and virtual testing capabilities. Remote collaboration tools became core to our workflow and culture.

2021

Chassis Development & FEA Validation

A landmark year for structural development — comprehensive FEA-validated space-frame chassis design and Lotus Suspension Analysis integration became central to the team's technical workflow.

2022

UCN-22 — Competition Debut

UCN-22, Saranyu Racing's Formula Student car, competed at Formula Bharat. A milestone season showcasing the team's fabrication capability and systems integration across all departments.

2023

Formula Bharat — BIC Noida

Saranyu Racing competed at the Buddh International Circuit, Formula Bharat 2023. The team secured multiple trophies at India's Biggest Vehicle Manufacturing Competition at Kumaraguru Institutions.

2024

Next Generation Build

Upgraded suspension, refined chassis design, new aero package, and improved electronics. Targeting top positions at Formula Bharat 2024 and beyond.

The VD team owns the car's handling character. From suspension geometry and spring-damper tuning to aerodynamic downforce and tyre modelling using Lotus Suspension Analyzer, this team ensures the car is both fast and predictable. The CAD model shown reflects months of kinematic iteration.

The structural team owns everything that holds the car together — the space-frame chassis, roll hoop, aerobody panels, and impact attenuator. Using ANSYS FEA and hands-on welding, the team achieves the best possible stiffness-to-weight ratio with student-fabricated precision.
